On Sliding Into DMs
Just because you can (i.e. the tech enables), doesnāt mean you should introduce yourself by way of a DM (without so much as a hello and how are you or at the very least, a ālikeā on a recent post), with a lengthy life story (which requires a lot of scrolling), followed by an outrageously large ask (I mean, you havenāt even LIKED one of my posts yet!).
Patience is a virtue when making connections, even when those connections are made virtually.
Seriously, what is up with that?! My favourite is when people slide into my DMs promising they will bring me sales leads. No thanks. Iāve seen your sales strategy and frankly, it sucks.
LinkedIn is the biggest culprit of this. As soon as I see anything in their headline talking about "I will bring you more sales, yada yada" I immediately delete. No way you're sliding in my DMs trying to sell me and you haven't even peeked at my profile!
